Jenica Rayne is a passionate singer-songwriter, accomplished guitarist and dynamic performer. Her music and songs tell stories about life’s playful (fun-loving) and soul-searching experiences. When you see Rayne live, you go on a journey through a kaleidoscope of emotions. Jenica engages her audiences with brilliant song-craft: from the upbeat cabaret of Can I Come Too and Call It What You Like, to the haunting realism of Icehouse and Blues Skies Dreaming, to the intimacy of Time is a Key, Sarah and Will You Help a Stranger.
UNDER THE COVERS… Jenica Rayne is a graduate of Vancouver Island University’s jazz music program. In summer she tours across Canada, dives into the recording studio or steps up her performing schedule with local musicians in ensembles. In her hometown of Kingston, she is well known for her collaboration with local musicians and fronts the Jenica Rayne Trio, Calamity Janes Band and Jenica and The RayneMakers. Jenica’s other passion from, September to June, is teaching music to both children and adults at the Kingston School of Music or in private lessons. The marketing gurus of the music industry struggle to describe Jenica – her incredible talent as a songwriter, performer and instrumentalist. Attempts to label Rayne, and put her in a tidy box for sellers and consumers of music, fail to capture her depth, versatility, emotional range and dynamic writing style. Her music does not belong in a box – it crosses all genres and can touch anyone of any age. One must resist the urge to label this extraordinary artist and simply listen to how brilliantly and honestly she tells our stories through her music and songs. |
